However, I would do some testing before deciding it doesn't or it's faulty. PS I have contacted engineer who swapped out box and he is going to replace Amstrad with another type when he gets one in, but again without fully understanding the problem http://atomirc.net/sky-remote/sky-remote-not-working-with-sky-box.html

Unfortunately this does mean that if there's any locally generated interference from, say, mercury vapour lights or even a poorly designed TV, then they simply won't work reliably. Should I just go looking for and old pair of rabbit's ears and what one should I get? DigiSender X4 or X7 (DG400 and DG440 models), Technika AV 104, SLX Compact AV Sender (Asda, £25), but the Nikkai 5.8Ghz isn't one of them.

To answer your question pator, no, we don't need to watch different channels on different rooms as the one in the bedroom is only used late night/early hours of the morning sunshine, electric fire and some TV screens). If this doesn't work, you could replace the Nikkai unit with one which is compatible (I seem to remember an SLX one in Asda for about £25).
The IR Remote sender (red thing) is taped to a magic eye with no coax cabling involved and the Sky+ remote gets the signal upstairs to change channels, record, live pause Also, on some DigiSenders you have to be closer to the DigiSender Transmitter Box with the Remote than you would to the Sky Box itself. I believe the remotes all output both IR and IRDA signals and certain boxes only work with IR and certain ones only work with IRDA. Most of the senders at this stage should have the ability to change channels from the 2nd tv. The signal which such units are permitted to transmit is limited by law to a tiny amount (a few milliwatts), so that there is minimal risk of interference to other equipment. using the new remote control? Enjoy... Searching through the forum I did find a message from LIGHTRAY (on 17-Jan-2002) who had the exact same problem but as far as I know no solution was found. This has been discussed in great detail before. Can I plug out the router box to check if the magic eye will work then?
